2011 Day 2 destinations

The focus of day 2 will be the riding. This is the day where we will ride some of the best routes available in the peninsular – Route 8, Route 66, and Route 4 – taking us from the state of Pahang, through Kelantan and into Perak. Due to the nature of these routes, most of our stops will be for fuel to ensure that the bikes with a shorter fuel range do not get stranded in the middle of nowhere. However, we will be making two main stops which nobody should ever miss!

The first stop will be to the majestic Gunung Stong. This is the highest peak in Kelantan standing at more than 1500m. Not only is this the highest peak, this is also the home to the highest waterfall in South East Asia: the Jelawang Falls. The highest single drop of this seven tier waterfall is 250m! Wow! I have read many interesting things about this place and am very eager to take it all in for myself.

The second stop for the day will be the rest stop along Route 4. This is the same place we stopped at in our last ride through Route 4. This rest stop has a magnificent view of the mountains as it is located at one of the highest points along the route. A breathtaking place for sure!

Our final stop will be at Tasik Temenggor…if I can secure accommodations there. This is the largest man-made lake in Malaysia and offers a tranquil environment to refresh the soul.

The need for fuel will bring us to several other stops. I am looking forward to seeing these small towns as they can be surprisingly charming. Our fuel stops will take us to the towns of Kuala Lipis, Gua Musang and Jeli. I can’t wait!!!
