2011 Day 5 destinations

This will be one of the longest riding days going from Tanah Rata up in the Cameron highlands all the way to Tanjung Kling in Melaka. This ride will take us from the state of Pahang, through the states of Perak, Selangor and Negri Sembilan, to the state of Melaka. in fact, we will be passing through many state lines in this ride…five in all. Pahang to Perak to Selangor to Pahang to Negri Sembilan and finally to Melaka. A ride this long should have a number of stops. Ironically, as we will be passing through mainly remote areas, there are only four planned stops.

The first stop is the town of Sungkai. This town is made famous by the Sungai Klah hot springs. This natural hot spring boasts of two large pools and some private rooms with smaller pools. I read that the hot springs can bring relief for many physical ailments like stiff joints, rheumatism, and some skin conditions…even insomnia! This should be a real treat!

The second stop is the SPLASH visitor centre. This is the visitor centre for the Selangor Dam located along the way up towards Fraser’s Hill. It offers a magnificent view of the dam and provides information on how the dam was built. I think it will make for a nice rest just before we head for the longest stretch of our ride for the day.

The third stop is the town of Bahau. There isn’t much written about this town. However, I saw some pictures of the old bus terminal and railway station which looks really promising!

The last stop is the town of Melaka. This is a major historic town and is a treat to all the senses. I am sure everybody knows enough about Melaka…I just know that I am so looking forward to being there!

So that wraps up the fifth day of riding!
